Overview
This experience program aims to pass on the spirit of Jikji, the world’s most ancient movable metal type, by allowing visitors to create their own metal types. They can see for themselves how Jikji was originally made.

Experience Highlights

  • The movable type making process will be demonstrated by a master in the craft, who is designated as the holder of Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 101.

  • This traditional book making experience involves such steps as metal typesetting, printing words with metal type, printing with a wooden pattern stamp, making hanji (traditional Korean paper), and bookbinding.
