Jikji Forest

Symbolizing “A Walk into the Jikji Forest”
Along with the Book Garden, the Jikji Forest allows visitors to immerse themselves in the spirit of Jikji.

Experience Highlights

  • Jikji Forest will consist of large trees made of waste wood. (Artist Han Seok-hyeon)

  • Located on the main stage of Cheongju Arts Center, the Jikji Forest symbolizes the theme of the festival.

  • The Book Garden, created back in 2016 with books donated by people, will be presented once again along with diverse healing experience programs.

  • A media show using lights will be performed each night in the Jikji Forest. Discover Jikji decorated with lights!

Jikji Forest Experience Zone

  • Jikji Forest’s Typesetting Playground (Big 1)

    - Participants : 80 people - per session : each session takes approximately 15 minutes including entry and exit

    Jikji Typesetting reflects the creative aspect of Jikji, which was published with metal types. 3D-printed letters are placed in a box and then the participants must match the given words. Participants receive coupons for ‘Jikji Collation’ if they complete the task within 5 minutes.

  • Jikji EduJeu - Catching Letter Balls (Big 2)

    - Participants : 20 people(Elementary school students are required to create groups of 20 - per session : each session takes approximately 15 minutes including entry and exit

    Catching Letter Balls turns people into hunters. Once people encounters the letter balls, they are madly preoccupied with letters. In this cultural activity, children will try to catch, with a butterfly net, letter balls (ping pong balls) that match letters written on a given word card. After the game, the players receive coupons for ‘Jikji Collation’

  • Jikji Forest’s Typesetting Playground (Big 3)

    - Participants : 80 people - per session : each session takes approximately 15 minutes including entry and exit

    What if one tastes Jikji? Jikji is delicious and sweet. Write your own Jikji with honey and chocolate and imagine the messages of Jikji. This activity expands the joy of imagining Jikji involving different senses.
