Jikji Korea is a global cultural festival that highlights and shares the diverse values of Jikji with people from around the world.

Greetings to you all!

Thank you for visiting Jikji Korea’s official website. My name is Han Beom-deok.

I am Chair of the Organizing Committee for the Jikji Korea International Festival. Jikji is the world’s oldest movable metal type that has survived till the present day. Reflecting the superb printing culture established by our forefathers, it is Korea's proud contribution to UNESCO's Memory of the World.

To promote Jikji to the rest of the world, Cheongju City Government has consolidated the biennial Cheongju Jikji Festival and the UNESCO/Jikji Memory of the World Prize jointly hosted by UNESCO and Cheongju City, holding a new international event known as the Jikji Korea International Festival starting in 2016.

The event is a global cultural festival aiming to highlight the diverse values of Jikji and share them with people around the world. It will be held for 21 days from October 1 to 21 this year at Cheongju Arts Center and Cheongju Early Printing Museum.

This year’s festival, in particular, will present a wide array of high-quality educational programs, hands-on experiences, and performances, as well as global-level exhibitions, academic events, and lectures, so that more visitors from at home and abroad can come and enjoy new experiences.
It is our hope that everyone can experience the passion and excitement emanating from Jikji Korea this year, and we look forward to your kind attention and participation. Thank you.

Mayor of Cheongju City
